It’s been years now that Toma Hurduc has been part of our family, and we couldn’t be prouder to support his work as a documentary photographer shooting projects on film. This weekend marks the unveiling of a new chapter in his artistic journey with Doom Mood, a duo-exhibition featuring Toma and Norwegian photographer Giulia Mangione. Curated by Angelica Maria and Matilda Ardeleanu, the show will open at CdRF Gallery in Bucharest before traveling to Norway’s Nitja Center in Lillestrøm.

At the heart of Doom Mood lies an exploration of existential fears—how they shape identities and collective ties, and how they are intrinsically linked to the mounting threat of climate change. Whether portraying the slow crawl toward catastrophe or the unseen erosion of reality, Toma and Giulia’s works interrogate our current condition with piercing clarity.
For our part, we’re thrilled to have played a role in Toma’s ongoing project, Two Suns, which forms part of this exhibition. The analog images in Two Suns were shot on our limited-edition Chemical XX film and scanned at the highest resolution on our Fujifilm scanners to create rich, finely detailed prints. Seeing these images come to life in exhibition form is a testament to Toma’s dedication and the power of film photography to capture the nuances of contemporary anxieties.
Beyond our contribution, we want to extend a huge shoutout to Leica Store Vienna for their continued support, as well as the teams at CRDF and Nitja Center for making this exhibition a reality. And for those attending, brace yourself — @aimpluswall has crafted an immersive soundscape to dial up the doom factor. 🌊
Doom Mood opens tomorrow, February 1st, at CdRF Gallery (📍Popa Tatu 68, Bucharest). Whether you’re a longtime admirer of analog photography or simply curious about the ways art confronts the challenges of our time, this is an exhibition not to be missed.
See you there!
