ADOX HR-50 is an ultra-fine grain black-and-white negative film rated at ISO 50, designed for exceptional sharpness, resolution, and tonal fidelity. Based on a microfilm emulsion originally developed for technical applications, HR-50 has been adapted for pictorial photography using ADOX’s unique Speed Boost technology—a proprietary layer that increases its sensitivity and expands its dynamic range.

This makes HR-50 much more versatile than traditional microfilms, allowing it to be used in everyday photography with excellent results in portraiture, architecture, landscape, and travel. It produces extremely sharp images with smooth tonal transitions and is especially well-suited for large prints or high-resolution scanning.

For optimal results, HR-50 performs beautifully when developed in ADOX XT-3, Rodinal, or FX-39 II, which help bring out its tonal richness and detail retention.
